Camiguin is said to be “Born of Fire”

Rising from the sea just off the coast of Northern Mindanao, is the pear-shaped volcanic island of Camiguin with its lush and formidable mountains, beautiful landscapes and seascapes.

Geography: Camiguin is about 300 sq. km. or 29,000 hectares; its length measures 33 km.; widest point is 14 km., with circumferential road of 64 km.

The capital of the province is Mambajao

We had a truly memorable experience during our trip. We thought that we won’t be able to reach the place because we encountered some unexpected issues. ( big waves, time pressure, fully booked trip, vehicular problem)  After all of this unforgettable, remarkable trip luckily we were able to reach Camiguin. We stayed at my uncle’s house which is very close to the market area in Mambajao. I met my aunt and my third degree cousin for the first time. They gave us a warming welcome and were so excited to have us. We started out the night eating dinner with them then after we went  night swimming at Ardent Hot Spring.  In he morning we rented a motorbike and head to our first destination. This island tour was by far the most fun we had on our trip. We visited a lot of Camiguin’s beautiful places and met other interesting people.

Here are pictures of some places we visited in Camiguin

Katibawasan Falls waterfalls located five kilometers southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt. Timpoong in the island of Camiguin”

Camiguin Island Resort a three-story building with a Mediterranean in design. Providing luxurious accommodation in Camiguin Island

Walkway to the Old Volcano/ Stations of the Cross Camiguin

The Sunken Cemetery of Camiguin marks the swept remains of the island’s rested locals. Located at Catarman Camiguin

Old Catarman Church Ruins The church of the Old Catarman town was destroyed and partly submerged by volcanic debris during the eruption and formation of Mt. Vulcan. Only the ruins of the church and bell tower remains of the old town.

Tangub Hot Spring is an interesting hot spring located on the shore close to the Sunken Cemetery. Most of the spring is submerged and can be partly seen during low tide.

White Island is an uninhabited white sandbar located off shore in the volcanic island of Camiguin in the Philippines. Accessed from Agoho which is about 5 km west of the town of Mambajao.

MOALBOAL

Nestled between the towns of Alcantara and Badian. It’s a 2-3 hour drive from Cebu proper. It’s famous for its white sand, crystal-clear water and beautiful marine reefs. The dive spots in Moalboal are very popular for tourist because of its colorful underwater scenery. There are also a number of resorts in Moalboal offering diving lessons and rent of diving equipment. Me and my bessy had a wonderful experience from the beginning till the end!  We  stayed at Backpackers lodge located at Panagsama Beach in Moalboal – about 4km from town proper. The only real low budget hostel for 450ph room per night (2pax). There is also a dormitory type of structure ( double deck beds) perfect for the barkada. We had a very relaxing  chill-out terrace with kind and friendly staff, the people of Moalboal were some of the friendliest we have ever encountered. The backpackers gang & Nong Totoy was so accommodating to us, always willing to make our trip the best it could have been, and answering our questions that we had about the nice resorts like Savedra, Pacita’s beach resort, Marina and sights to go see like the White sand or Bas dako, Kawasan falls, Badian Island resort and spa,Lambug beach or open-air bars (Chili Bar, Beach Bar, Red Banana and others) and restaurants ( Marina Cucina Italiana, Silver Ray)  and the food was simply great!

Many thanks go out to Mary Ann and her wonderful staff, Theresa and husband for giving us a ride all the way from Moalboal to Cebu City. To Nong Totoy for the transpo. Our foreign friends for the wonderful dinner and drinks. And to our newly found friends Ella, Theresa, Ann and others. Thanks to them for making our trip special!

Bohol is one of the Tourist Spots in the Philippines which foreigners and local tourist love to visit. It’s a beautiful place to stay. If I am a first time tourist I will go back again to Bohol. There are so many things to discover and explore in Bohol. The people are great and very hospitable.  I always bring  all of my friends here in Bohol and they love the place especially discovering places not here in Cebu. One thing good about Bohol aside from the tourist spots is the religious  and Eco cultural awareness of the people. Although Im now based in Cebu I am proud to be a boholana.  All I can say is there’s no place like home and no other place to compare with BOHOL.

Capital of Bohol: Tagbilaran City

Geography: Bohol is sorrounded by 72 smaller islands. It is about 626 kilometers south of Manila and about 72  kilometers southeast of Mactan Island.

What to bring:  Any camera would do (digital or dslr), Video Camera, Laptop (there’s7 free wifi access in some of the resorts)
