Camiguin is said to be “Born of Fire”
Rising from the sea just off the coast of Northern Mindanao, is the pear-shaped volcanic island of Camiguin with its lush and formidable mountains, beautiful landscapes and seascapes.
Geography: Camiguin is about 300 sq. km. or 29,000 hectares; its length measures 33 km.; widest point is 14 km., with circumferential road of 64 km.
We had a truly memorable experience during our trip. We thought that we won’t be able to reach the place because we encountered some unexpected issues. ( big waves, time pressure, fully booked trip, vehicular problem) After all of this unforgettable, remarkable trip luckily we were able to reach Camiguin. We stayed at my uncle’s house which is very close to the market area in Mambajao. I met my aunt and my third degree cousin for the first time. They gave us a warming welcome and were so excited to have us. We started out the night eating dinner with them then after we went night swimming at Ardent Hot Spring. In he morning we rented a motorbike and head to our first destination. This island tour was by far the most fun we had on our trip. We visited a lot of Camiguin’s beautiful places and met other interesting people.
Here are pictures of some places we visited in Camiguin
Katibawasan Falls waterfalls located five kilometers southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt. Timpoong in the island of Camiguin”
Camiguin Island Resort a three-story building with a Mediterranean in design. Providing luxurious accommodation in Camiguin Island
Walkway to the Old Volcano/ Stations of the Cross Camiguin
The Sunken Cemetery of Camiguin marks the swept remains of the island’s rested locals. Located at Catarman Camiguin
Old Catarman Church Ruins The church of the Old Catarman town was destroyed and partly submerged by volcanic debris during the eruption and formation of Mt. Vulcan. Only the ruins of the church and bell tower remains of the old town.
Tangub Hot Spring is an interesting hot spring located on the shore close to the Sunken Cemetery. Most of the spring is submerged and can be partly seen during low tide.
White Island is an uninhabited white sandbar located off shore in the volcanic island of
Camiguin in the
Philippines. Accessed from Agoho which is about 5 km west of the town of Mambajao.
